Tux

Tux, nka Bane with new mom & dad, Chase & Raven & daughter, Pluto with Whippet Venus.

These adopters came in with a specific dog in mind, and he didn’t disappoint. They were looking for a new buddy for their whippet Venus who they adopted from GPI a couple of years ago. We brought out Tux who you might know is a very fun, energetic boy, and he and Venus immediately wanted to play. It took a few minutes but we got the two of them to settle down enough to do a proper introduction, then eventually let them have some play time together in the yard. They did great together, and Tux also got to show off his personality to the rest of the family. Tux, now known as Bane, had a rough start to his life in Bahrain, but he has settled into his new home in record time! – Mike Forrest

Kenny

Kenny with new mom, Deborah.

This adoption was to a retired couple who have previously had one of our greyhounds as well as other dogs. They also have a cat, and we just got in a couple of dogs that did well in our cat testing. The choices were limited, but the boy that ended up making it clear that he was going home with them is a handsome, happy boy from Ireland – Kenny! – Mike Forrest

Ruby

Ruby (L) with new dad & mom, Reggie & Carter with Scribble fka Watch.

As usual, our cat-trainable greyhounds are moving out quickly! This adoption was to a family from Eastern Washington who have had many of our dogs going back 15+ years. They currently have three cats and an 11-year-old greyhound girl named Scribble who was missing her companion Cinder who passed away last year. We really only had one cat-trainable dog that fit the bill, but that’s no problem – Scribble & Irish girl Ruby hit it off and they all headed home to meet the cats! – Mike Forrest

Sunny

Sunny with his new family, Susan and Allen.

This recent adoption is a dog who was returned to us due to a change in family situation. He was pretty nervous about being back in the kennel, so we found him a foster home with an experienced GPI volunteer family where he quickly settled in. Well sometimes fosters turn into more than fosters and this is one of those cases, so congratulations to Sunny and his new family! – Mike Forrest

Henri

Henri nka Nikko with new mom, Midge.

This adopter is no stranger to GPI as she is a long time volunteer, and this is her 17th adoption from us over the last 30 years! All of her previous adoptions have been greyhounds, but this time she went with a smaller model: a whippet who came to us from South Korea via Team Inch, Henri, now known as Nikko! – Mike Forrest

Evee, Aurora, May, Lady

Evee

Evee (L) with new parents, Daniel & Michelle with new puppy sister Roxy.

These adopters came up from Portland with one little girl in mind. They have had several Italian Greyhounds over the last 18 years, and also fostered a dozen of them for another group. So when they saw we had an IG come in they had to meet her. Evee was immediately smitten with her new mom & dad and climbed all over them for a closer inspection and some kisses. The only thing left was to introduce her to her new puppy sister Roxy who is an IG/Chihuahua mix. They did great together, and then packed up and headed right back to Oregon! – Mike Forrest

Aurora

Aurora with new Dad, Reese.

This adopter is a very experienced dog owner, but has not had a greyhound before. He grew up with a sled team of Huskies and had an English Bulldog that he lost last year. We introduced a few of our mixes, and one in particular put on a great show immediately requesting belly rubs. She sealed the deal in the yard playing ball and getting even more belly rubs. And as soon as we got back into the adoption center, she jumped into his lap on the couch and didn’t want to move. We’re all very happy for Aurora, who came to us from South Korea via Team Inch! – Mike Forrest

May

May nka Emily and Wonder.

This adoption was to a family of long-time greyhound owners and GPI volunteers. Last year they adopted a gentle boy named Wonder from Australia, and he was missing his sister May who passed away recently. We introduced Wonder and his people to a couple of Irish greyhounds and another Australian one. All of the hounds got along great so it was up to mom & dad to decide. They went with an Irish girl who was coincidentally also named May, but who will now be known as Emily! – Mike Forrest

Lady

Lady nka Nala with new family, Stacy, Serenity, Noah & Jeremy.

A family came in with their 10 and 5 year old kids. They previously had Italian Greyhounds, but today were looking for a larger model. Well it just so happens that a big girl – her paperwork described her as “extremely well built” – came into our care from Ireland recently. Her write-up also included “relaxed” and “kind natured” and those attributes showed through as she was happy to meet everybody and did really well with the kids. So our 78lb girl Lady, now known as Nala, was an easy choice for them! – Mike Forrest

Roman, Leonard, Zac, Chase

Roman

Roman with new mom, Donna

We recently welcomed a little guy into our care who came to us via Little Dog Rescue. He’s an 11lb, 5-year-old Italian Greyhound named Roman who is a little on the nervous side when he first meets new people. His adopters came all the way over from Idaho, and they have had many Greyhounds and Italian Greyhounds so he will be going to a very experienced home. And he will also have a 13-year-old Italian Greyhound buddy named Mercury to show him around! – Mike Forrest

Leonard

Leonard with his new family, Alex, Cameron, Mia & Jessie

A family of four came in looking to add a dog to their family. They already have two cats, so we really only had one option for them. But this shy little guy did a great job of introducing himself to all of his new family members so it worked out well! Leonard originally came to us as a stray via the Kauai Humane Society, and now he’s headed off to his new home! – Mike Forrest

Zac

Zac nka Mr. Bun (R) with new parents, Emily & Adam with Hobbes

A couple came in looking for a companion for their 10 year old greyhound Hobbes. They were mainly interested in finding a smaller girl but were open to other options. We introduced a few dogs with a variety of personalities, and easy-going Hobbes got along with everybody! So the difficult decision came down to mom & dad, and they ultimately picked a handsome four year old boy who raced in West Virginia: Zac, now known as Mr. Bun! – Mike Forrest

Chase

Here’s Chase nka Topaz with her dad, Chris

These adopters are experienced greyhound owners and have been volunteering at the kennel for a while now. That’s often the best way to meet our dogs, and this was no exception. They met this girl on our Brightwater walks not long after she arrived, and it was easy to see that they were a great match. Chase, now known as Topaz, made it very clear that she had found her people! – Mike Forrest

Ernie, Angel, Zeus, Gracie

Ernie

Ernie nka Reny with new family, David, Zander & Michelle with Baylee, dog on couch.

These adopters are a family with a teenage son and a 15-year-old terrier mix named Baylee. They were looking for an active, playful family dog that could also get along with Baylee who isn’t that interested in other dogs and mainly just wants to do her own thing. We have a few dogs that could fit the bill and introduced all of them, but most were a little too much for Baylee. The last dog on our list however decided he wasn’t interested in Baylee at all and was much more excited to play with his new human companions. And after some good play time in the yard they brought Ernie, now Reny, home with them! – Mike Forrest

Angel

Angel with new mom, Bev and brother Silus.

This adoption was to a long-time GPI volunteer and greyhound parent who fell in love with this senior girl while doing turnout and Brightwater walks. The only question was how she’d get along with her other greyhound Silus, and fortunately it’s been going great! So today they made it official and Angel has a new family just in time for the holidays! – Mike Forrest

Zeus

Zeus with new parents, Emiliano & Marion.

This recent adoption is unusual in that the adopters did not meet the dog at our kennel. Instead his new mom is one of the vets who helped treat this boy when he arrived from South Korea via Team Inch. As soon as his treatments were done we double-checked to make sure he was ok having a couple of cats as housemates, and he’s doing great! So today Zeus officially became part of their family! – Mike Forrest

Gracie

Gracie (brindle) with new parents Grant & Ally, daughter Ava and Zelda.

This adoption is to a family that has adopted a couple of our greyhounds before, currently with 10-year-old Zelda. The twist is that they now have a three-year-old daughter so we had to make sure we found a dog that will be comfortable with her. Fortunately, we had a few in the kennel to introduce and they all got along well! The lucky girl they’re adopting is a 3 1/2 year old brindle who raced in West Virginia: Gracie! – Mike Forrest

Nala

Nala nka as Nellie and new mom, Sue.

This adopter is another long-time greyhound owner. Her girl Amber passed away several months ago, and she decided the time was right to look for a new companion. We introduced a couple of our dogs, but she was uncertain because they were a little too aloof for her. Well the happy, bouncy Irish girl that came out next must have heard us talking because she immediately pranced up and started giving her new mom kisses. And if you have met this girl then you’ve probably already guessed that it must be Nala, now known as Nellie! – Mike Forrest

Donnie

Donnie aka Donatello with new Dad Mark & Mom Anita.

You may recognize this little guy from a recent adoption notice – unfortunately things didn’t work out between him and the other dog in the house. Fortunately we get a lot of applications whenever we get in an Italian Greyhound, and this time was no exception. Today’s adopters are very experienced with I.G.’s, having previously owned three, and have been looking for a new companion. I think Donnie (now short for Donatello) is excited to fill that role! – Mike Forrest

Vada

Vada, nka Vida with new dad & mom, Douglas & Lisa with Max.

This adoption has been a long time coming. When this girl arrived 18 months ago nobody thought it would take long for her to find her new family. But for whatever reason the right situation never came along. Well, that is all history now and Vada (now Vida) is joining her new greyhound brother Max (fka Trigger) in her new home! – Mike Forrest

Sinead

Sinead nka Orla with new parents Chris & Drew.

These adopters have been patiently waiting for the right dog to come in for the better part of a year. They have two cats, so finding the right match has been extra challenging. But recently we got in a girl from West Virginia who fit the bill, so they quickly came to meet her. Today they made it official and Sinead, now known as Orla, headed out with her new family! – Mike Forrest

Linus

Linus (L), Blue, Brewster, Major & Greta

This adoption has been in the works for a little bit because we needed to make sure that this guy got along with the rest of his new pack. He was previously turned into our group due to a bad case of separation anxiety, but with four other dogs around this doesn’t
seem to be a problem! Please join me and Blue, Brewster, Major and Greta in welcoming Linus to his new pack! – Mike Forrest

Marty

Marty with new mom, Nancy.

This recent adopter came all the way from central Oregon to find a new greyhound companion. She had a greyhound growing up and other dogs since then, but hadn’t had a dog for several years now. We introduced her to a few greyhounds and a couple of mixes, but it was the greyhounds that she really connected with. And one in particular: a handsome, playful brindle boy who recently arrived into our care from West Virginia – Marty! – Mike Forrest

Rami

Rami (L) with new mom, Nanz, foster Lucky (on right) and Fern in front.

This adoption was to a family of long-time greyhound owners and GPI volunteers. They recently lost their boy Coco, and their girl Fern needed a new buddy. They got maybe a little more than they bargained for though and ended up with two new additions! The first is GPI foster girl Lucky who came to us from Bahrain. And now they’ve adopted Rami who originally came to us from the UAE! – Mike Forrest
