A greyhound should not run loose with other dogs. Check the enclosure to make sure the fence is not in disrepair in any sections, and check the gate to make sure it is shut properly. Do not let your greyhound run when the weather is too hot. Heat exhaustion can be fatal.

BELLINGHAM, WA | Lake Padden Park 4882 Samish Way Bellingham, WA 98226 |
The training area marked behind the athletic field restroom facilities in southeastern part of the park in the area bounded by four (4) white posts marked "Dog Exercise Area"; bridle trails in the wooded portion of the Park west of Padden Creek Dam and Ruby Creek entrance into the Lake; and the trails in the south end of Lake Padden between the golf course power lines and trailhead off Samish Way. Dogs are required to be on a leash when on the around-the-lake trail. A dog water exercise area near the ballfield area is signed for dog training/exercise. Dogs restricted to entering Lake Padden only at this area. |
BELLINGHAM, WA | Barn located at: 4867 Everson Goshen Road Bellingham, WA 98228 |
Every other Sunday: The owners of the barn require a rental charge so the fee is $4 per hound. Greyhounds only. Muzzles required. Directions: Take exit 255 if you are going North on I-5, head east on Sunset/Mt Baker Hwy. Turn left on the Everson Goshen and go about a mile or so to Canyon Creek Farms on the left. They meet in the barn slightly to the left of the driveway. Contact Jennifer at [email protected] or 360-738-9261 if you have any questions. |
BELLEVUE, WA | Robinswood Park Off of 148th Ave. (the south end, intersecting with 124th and 122nd. SE.), near Bellevue Community College |
Two fenced fields. The larger corral has an improved fence but since other breeds run there, it is not an ideal place for greyhounds to run. The smaller field can be rented for exclusive greyhound use. |
CENTRALIA, WA (Recommended by Tonya Mackey) |
Centralia Borst Park Exit 82 off I-5 |
Centralia now has a fully fenced dog park. There are two fenced areas side by side. One side is for small breeds and the other is for large dogs. The nice thing is when you go into the gate, there is a small area for you and the dog. After you close the first gate then you go through a second gate to get into the play area. Kind of like the red barn (former GPI kennel) had in front so dogs would not get out. A lot of times the park is empty and free for a single family run. |
COVINGTON, WA | Cedar Heights Jr. High School 19640 SE 272nd St. |
Fenced track (has several gates that have to be checked, and watch out for a couple of holes for pole-vaulting) Contact Carol Forehand for more info. |
NORTH SEATTLE, WA | NOT ACCEPTABLE Sand Point Magnuson Park |
MAGNUSON PARK IS NOT ACCEPTABLE FOR USE BY GREYHOUNDS Updated 9-9-08 |
REDMOND, WA | NOT ACCEPTABLE Marymoor Park |
REASONS WHY MARYMOOR IS NOT ACCEPTABLE FOR GREYHOUNDS Marymoor Park is not fully and securely fenced. There are also many, many breeds of dogs who run at Marymoor and some very busy roads nearby. |
TACOMA, WA | Rogers Park 3300 East L Street |
Use this one with caution as some aggressive dogs and not-mindful owners have been frequenting this park lately. It is maintained by volunteers and by Metro Parks. It's a good size (perfect for running and fetching). It has two dog-proof gates and is totally fenced. There is a doggie water fountain, a bench for sitting and poop bags. I wouldn't, however, recommend the park after it has rained (at least for two days after). The park is in a low lying area so it can get muddy. http://www.tacomadogpark.com/ http://www.metroparkstacoma.org/page.php?id=26 Contact Janet Keough for more info. |
PITT MEADOWS, BC | Three Rinks Arena Baseball Diamond During baseball season only - fence is taken down for soccer season. |
