Dearly missed by Brittany and Matt Cooksey

The first time I saw Saida’s photo I knew she was mine. Something about her eyes told me we were meant for each other. Saida truly was my heart and soul dog, and the 4 1/2 years we had together were so incredibly special.

When I brought Saida home in April of 2020, I had to work hard to gain her trust. She had been through a lot in her life and wasn’t sure what to make of me. But lots of patient walks, scrambled eggs, and time at home together slowly but surely convinced her she had finally found her forever person.

We went through a lot together. Saida and I eventually moved to Colorado and a few months later I met my now husband Matt. Saida loved and trusted him almost right away, and they were best buddies for the rest of her life.

Saida’s sweet little personality grew and grew for the entire time she was with us. She loved to go on “sniff walks,” and always let us know which route she wanted to take for her daily walk. She taught me so much patience and allowed me to slow down and enjoy whatever moment we were currently in.

We lost Saida to a suspected cancer in her bone marrow. Her last couple of days were hard and painful and incredibly sad for me and Matt, but she was full of love until the end. I am heartbroken and I feel like I should have gotten more time with her – her life before I got her was hard and I felt she deserved more good time than she got. But I wouldn’t trade a second of it. Saida loved life, loved Matt and I, and we will always be thankful for the time we had with her.
