Dearly missed by Isaac Olson and Mary Krauszer
Jocko (née Rover, née WW Overcame) was gentle, goofy, happy, easy-going, demanding, smelly, sassy, and social. But the word that best describes him is sweet. He was described as sweet on his GPI form; the strangers he met on walks (and he loved meeting strangers) invariably described him as sweet, and most of the time, when he got chuffy and impatient in the evening, it was because his people were too slow in getting on the couch to snuggle with him. Once we sat with him, wrapped him up in a blanket, and started rubbing his ears, he’d let out loud purrs of delight. He was a sweet, sweet dog.
He loved people, was indifferent to most dogs, and never gave us any trouble. Food was his great love, and he would wake from a dead sleep to sprint into the kitchen at the sound of the fridge opening. He was quick to gently sidle up and put his head in the hands of just about anyone who looked at him or talked to him. He loved short car rides, short walks, and long naps. He would happily greet one of us returning from work, but he really let his joy shine when the whole family was reunited, even if one of us was only away for a few minutes. He despised phones and computers (good dog), often knocking them out of our hands with a casual stretch from his seat next to us on the couch. He enriched our lives with his demands for more love, more snuggles, and more sweetness.
We miss Jocko dearly. He brought so much joy, laughter, and dirt into our house. We feel so grateful to have had the chance to spoil this strangely shaped animal.
