Cathy Munro

Stoney, Bunny, Georgette, Alia, Tammy, Koki

May 4, 2020

Join us here each Monday as Regional Vice President Kathy Kreyling shares stories from the Adoption Center. Check out our Available Dogs to see who’s still waiting for their forever home.

Stony

Stony, nka Whiskey, with his new parents Brad & Kolleen

This couple has been thinking about getting a Greyhound for a while and, just like a lot of other people right now, they thought the timing was perfect to make an addition. They were open to seeing both boys and girls and they quickly narrowed their search to one of each. You would think that the girl would be the one that would have the edge as far as manipulating the outcome, but, in this instance the boy pretty much looked at them with his big brown eyes and he knew the couple was putty in his hands. Stony, nka Whiskey, did a Greyt job and his new parents couldn’t wait to take him home!!

Bunny

Bunny with her new mom Emily (& a friend)

When this lady came to find her new furry friend, she was looking for a dog that would get along with her grandmother’s cat. Unfortunately, our supply of cat friendly dogs is just about non-existent at this time so we had to do some creative thinking to come up with some possibilities. The dogs we showed her did so well, but, one little girl won this lady’s heart immediately — Bunny!

Georgette

Georgette, nka Missy, with her new moms Megan & Marsha

These ladies came to the kennel with quite a list of dogs that might fit well in their home. As usually happens, we modified the list when we started talking about the dogs and they got to see quite a variety of dogs from young to a little more mature and from extremely active to fairly calm. They saw some boys & girls, and they really had very little trouble picking their new addition — she actually was the very first one we showed and I think that even before they met the others, they had a strong feeling that dog was going to be theirs. Well, they were correct and Georgette, nka Missy, was already being spoiled on her way out the door!

Aila

Alia

Before this man came to the kennel, he asked me if he had to make a decision at his first appointment or if he could make multiple appointments. I told him he could take his time, we had no intention of hurrying his decision — we just want to make sure he gets the right dog and the dog gets the right home. With that being said, I would have been extremely surprised if he left without a dog. Not only did he leave with a dog, he fell for Miss Aila who has been with us for a while, and we were all thrilled!!

Tammy

Tammy with her new family … Roger, Rafaela & Fae

This couple came to find a female sight hound to be a buddy for their nearly 14 year old Whippet, Fae. They were interested in our Saluki mixes and Greyhounds and that really only left them with three dogs to choose from. All of them did a wonderful job with the people and Fae, but we knew we had a ringer — she had been in a foster home with a 16 year old IG and done beautifully. Sooooo, it was really no surprise that the family just had to adopt Tammy!!

Koki

This couple lost their Greyhound almost a year ago to Osteo and after taking some time to heal, they were ready to roll!! They wanted a big boy and had no problem with a strong prey drive because their last boy apparently had the same characteristic. Needless to say, this opened the door for some of our wonderful dogs that need some more experienced owners. They enjoyed the time they spent with all of them, but the dog that won their hearts was Koki.

Gizmo, Patch, Taylor, Jessie, Chick

April 27, 2020

We’re taking a little walk down memory lane with today’s Adoption Tails – here’s a few stories from several years ago – the time flies!  Check out our Available Dogs to see who’s still waiting for their forever home.

Gizmo

Gizmo

Gizmo – Adopted!! No teaser this time! Gizmo went home today with a very special lady! You know she is special because she won the heart of this special boy and he couldn’t have been happier to go with her. Bless both of their hearts!!

Patch and Taylor

Patch
Taylor

Patch was adopted today along with Taylor. They went to the same family! We’re so pleased!

Those Flying Irish greyhounds REALLY know how to FLY … out of the kennel that is and out of the country too. Now, they’re even leaving in pairs. Patch and Taylor picked their family, they were even smart enough to pick one where the mom and grandma stay home (aka greyhound heaven!!). They’re going to be forever residents of Canada!

Jessie

Jessie

Jessie was adopted today!! This little girl has been waiting a long time for the family she picked to be able to come and take her home. Today was that day and it was wonderful to see Jessie nka Zelda go home with a family that is already so in love with her and vice versa!

Chick

Chick

Chick was adopted today!!

Funny how things don’t always work out the way you plan. A lady from Kingston came in to get a big male and, you guessed it, she went home with a tiny female named Chick. She is now known as Dee Dee and she pretty much had her new mom won over in short order!!

Meet Hero: April Dog of the Month – ADOPTED!!

April 25, 2020

herosupertitle
Please contact Moira Corrigan ([email protected]) for more information about Hero.

Hero - ADOPTED!!
Tag No: 6462
Registered Name: VJ Super Hero
Breed: Greyhound
Date of Birth:  June 20, 2016
Color: White/Black
Cat Trainable: No
Dog Friendly: Ok with greyhounds, No small dogs
Kid Friendly: Unknown
Location: Woodinville, WA (Kennel)
Comments:  Hero is a fun upbeat boy.  He is friendly, outgoing, curious about new things and loves to run.  He is Mr. Personality.  Hero also enjoys affection, leaning, and hanging with you as well as a good run.  Hero had some injuries to some of his toes and one of his toes has been amputated.  Due to the injury on another toe, Hero does best walking on softer surfaces and would not make a great hiking buddy.  While he has the energy and interest, his toe injury does not allow for long walks and rough surfaces.  Hero will need a home without cats or small dogs.  Hero would do best in a home with a fenced yard and not an apartment situation where he would have to walk on a lot of hard surfaces.

Flashback: True, Rambo, Sawyer, Holly, Jack

April 6, 2020

We’re taking a little walk down memory lane with today’s Adoption Tails – here’s a few stories from 2014/2015 and our story teller is Marchet. Check out our Available Dogs to see who’s still waiting for their forever home.

True

True

The very sweet and very handsome brindle boy True was quickly adopted today. (Saturday) His new mom came with her female grey to pick out a new male friend. She saw one male and then out came True. He really showed her that he wanted to go home with them. It didn’t take more than 5 or 10 minutes for that decision to be made. The dogs sure do know what they want. Since both the 2 legged and 4 legged females really like him…………it was a done deal. -Marchet

Rambo

Rambo

Rambo was adopted today! Handsome red boy Rambo won out over the other boys at the kennel to go home today. He was a very happy boy. His new dad, who is tall and lanky like a greyhound was very excited. -Marchet

Sawyer

Sawyer

Today the very handsome white and fawn darling affectionate Sawyer was adopted. He will be leading a very interesting life. Most of his time will be spent on the very large ship where his dad is Captain. Don’t worry the ship is in port most of the time where there are close by areas where he can get lots of exercise. Most of all he will get lots of love. -Marchet

Holly

Holly

This family already had 2 females from us. Since one was getting old and didn’t want to play as much they along with the 2 girls decided that Holly was the right one for them. -Marchet

Jack

Jack

Jack, the very handsome red boy picked his new mom today. She saw one male and then we brought Jack out….that was it. He convinced her that there was absolutely no reason to see anyone else. Usually I say you are here you might as well look at a few more. I didn’t bother today. That really was it. Love at first sight. -Marchet
