Ford
Tag No: 6729
Registered Name: First N Foremost
Breed: Greyhound
Date of Birth:  July 18, 2018
Color: Red
Cat Trainable: No
Dog Friendly: Ok with greyhounds, Unknown with others
Kid Friendly: Unknown
Location: Woodinville, WA (Kennel)
Comments:  Ford is a friendly, active, playful boy. He is handsome, curious, delightful and affectionate. Ford looks forward to the next adventures in life and likes to be in the midst of the action. Not long after he arrived we noticed something odd about his eyes. He saw our vet and she referred him to an eye specialist. The eye specialist gave us some sad news. Ford has Progressive Retinal Atrophy. This genetic progressive condition means he will be totally blind in six months to a year. We are already working with him on some commands that will help him as he loses his remaining sight. Ford will need a home without cats and he is not suitable for an apartment/condo/townhome. He will need an active home and one that can guide him as he loses his sight.

Sponsored by Marilyn Longley, in memory of Rosie and Spy.

Sponsored by Peggy Koonz, in memory of Nova

Ford would love to have a sponsor until he finds his forever family.  More info here:  https://greyhoundpetsinc.org/support/sponsor-a-dog/

Karma

Karma with her new mom, Carmen

This lady wanted to start the new year off right with a new furry friend and she sure came to the right place! She was open to girls and boys and, after seeing quite a few dogs, she narrowed her list to 3 dogs — 2 boys and 1 girl. Any one of them would have been a good choice, but after some deliberation, she decided that sweet little Karma was the one for her!

Misty

Misty with her new parents Sam & Elizabeth

This couple had one of our Greyhounds for 9 years and she went to the Bridge this spring. As you can guess, they have been missing her and they recently decided they were ready to have another fur baby share their home. They started out looking at some of our big boys and then started asking about our girls. We only have a few girls at the kennel now and when you rule out the cat friendly and young ones, the list gets very short. Luckily, they fell in love with the first girl we showed them — I’m sure it was because she did such a good job of making them feel very important and loved immediately!! We need to have Misty come back and give lessons to our other dogs — it would sure help us get them placed more quickly!!

Sally

Sally, nka Dahlia — Dally for short, with her new family … Anne, Michael & Wellington

This couple has been around Greyhounds for years since their daughter has two of them and they were ready to get one of their own. They needed a dog that could get along with their cat and their 19 year old dachshund, Wellington. While they were looking through our web-site, they saw a dog that had lived with cats and liked small dogs better than big dogs and thought this one definitely looked like a possibility for them. When we brought her out to meet them, they all seemed to connect and when we had them in the yard, she seemed to understand that Wellington was older (she wanted to play but would run up to him and then stop herself). They felt Sally, nka Dahlia (Dally for short), was just the dog they were looking for!

England

England, nka Phoenix, with his new family … Talli, Allison & Charlotte

This family included a mother and twin 10 year old girls. All three of them were very tuned in to the dogs and it was interesting to watch their reactions as they met each of the dogs we brought out. When you have 3 different people, I’m always a little nervous that each one of the people will want a different dog, but this family seemed to agree on each dog. They narrowed it down to 2 boys, but after spending a short time outside, they decided unanimously that England, nka Phoenix, had to be their new family member!!

Mary, Marlin, Grace

Mary

Mary with her new mom, Kristina

This adoption was to a lady that had a Greyhound a few years ago and has been without a dog for quite a while so, as you can imagine she has been missing having that wonderful Greyhound energy in her home. She has been doing turnout for the last year and, at the same time, been scoping out the dogs to see who might be a good fit for her. She found a couple of possibilities that caught her eye and as we looked at those dogs, it was obvious that the best fit was that sweet, black girl, Mary!!

Marlin

Marlin with his new dads Bryan & Alex

Two men who had a dog with terrible separation anxiety a couple of years ago decided the time was right to get another Greyhound. We only had a few dogs that we felt fit their lifestyle (self-proclaimed “couch potatoes”), but those dogs did an excellent job of strutting their stuff and after time in the yard, it came down to two sweet boys. They chose our big red boy, Marlin and vice versa!!!

Grace

Grace with her new parents Aaron & Jen

I don’t think that any of us had any doubt that this dog would be adopted by the first people that had an adoption appointment with her!! She is all puppy and she has so much happiness and love to share – who wouldn’t fall in love with her immediately. Well, her family came today and they have had lab puppies in the past, so they weren’t phased at all by taking on a 1 year old puppy. They are going to have so much fun with Grace!!!

Caramel, Beast, Harley, Souri, Ronda, Windy

Caramel

Caramel with her new parents Michele & Robert

When we introduced this couple to the dog they adopted, it was fun to watch the reactions of both the people and the dog. There really seemed to be an instant connection and there was little doubt from that first minute about who this couple would adopt. They got a real sweetheart —- Caramel —- and I think she did pretty good too!

Beast

Beast with his new parents Ryan & Megan

Honestly, the only reasons the boy that was adopted today was still with us were because he?s been recovering from a broken leg and he was late on the list to be vetted. This was the first time we have shown him and the couple that adopted him just seemed to be at the right place at the right time! He is such a stunner and very mellow – a few of us at the kennel would have taken him in a heartbeat if we could. Luckily, this couple realized what a find he was and quickly decided to make Beast part of their family!!

Harley

Harley (nka Harleen) with her new family … Spike, Angela, Margot, TamTam (middle) & Oneal

First, one might ask why a family with 2 dogs and a very young little girl would consider getting another dog. The answer is that they have had a Greyhound before and they really missed having one in their home! With that being said, the truth is that finding a Greyhound that would work with all of the different pieces was definitely not easy. But, we did did come up with a couple of dogs that fit well. The funny thing is that the dog we thought was a little more iffy was the one that rolled with the punches beautifully when they were all in the yard together. So Harley (BTW, Harley is a girl), nka Harleen, is off to her new home & family!

Souri

Souri with her new family … Drea, Reid & George

This couple brought their chihuahua mix to meet one particular dog and while they were at the kennel, they decided they should see more than one dog which is always a good idea. We only had 3 dogs that fit their situation and while they thought they were pretty sold on the original dog, one of the others really came out and made their decision much tougher. They had to spend some extra time thinking things through, but in the end, they went home with the dog they came to see — Souri.

Ronda

Ronda with her new mom, Ela

This adoption was to a lady who has been interested in a particular dog for a while and has done her research and preparation for adoption focused on that dog. She and her trainer concentrated their first training session on how to best handle this dog so, when she took Ronda home, she had a nice head start on having a good life with her new dog!!

Windy

Windy, nka Quinn, with her new family … Claudia, Lennart & Matt

This family was shopping for a birthday present for the father. At first, they were a little divided on just exactly what kind of dog they were looking for, but once they were all on the same page, we found a wonderful dog that they all agreed would be a greyt addition to the family. The interesting part was that even though the dog was the dad’s birthday gift, he got to pay for his own gift! I’m sure it didn’t matter to him — they all got a wonderful little girl named Windy, nka Quinn!!
