Miracle

Here is Miracle nka Mira and New Mom, Melina.

This adoption was to a family in Oregon that has fostered and adopted many sighthounds over the years. They have a 12 year old Italian Greyhound and an 11 year old Chihuahua/Min Pin mix and have been searching for another little one to add to their pack. So, when they saw that an Italian Greyhound girl named Miracle from South Korea had arrived, they were quick to get in touch. Miracle, now known as Mira, didn’t take much convincing to fit right into her new pack. Congratulations to all! – Mike Forrest

Ringo

Here’s Ringo, nka Moses, new Mom Karin with Sisters Ciara fka Cooler (L) & Vali fka Kiki (R).

This adoption was an international affair. This Saluki/Canaan Dog mix boy came over from Bahrain last year along with his two brothers, and it took a while for him to settle and start trusting people. He gradually gained confidence working with our staff and volunteers, and later in the year a family got in touch and offered to foster him along with their two GPI greyhounds. He settled right into his new foster home and learned a lot about the world from his new family and greyhound sisters. He did so well that he quickly became part of their pack, and this weekend they realized that he had found his forever home all along. Congratulations to Ringo, now known as Moses, his sisters Ciara and Vali, and the rest of his new family! – Mike Forrest

Rusty

Rusty (R) with new parents, Leslie and Dave with sister, Ember (L).

This recent adoption was to a family that is no stranger to GPI – they are regular volunteers and this is their 18th GPI greyhound! This 7 year old boy was sadly returned to us when his owner passed away. It took him a little while to adjust and he was showing signs of separation anxiety. He met his new mom & dad during turnout one evening, and they offered to foster him and see how he got along with their greyhound Ember. He settled in pretty quickly and Ember approved, so they decided to make it official! Congratulations to Rusty and his new family! – Mike Forrest

Elmo

Elmo (R) with new Dad, Cameron & new IG Brother, Henri (L).

We recently received two Italian Greyhounds from South Korea, one of which was adopted a few weeks ago. The other one is a friendly, energetic little guy who unfortunately lost a leg to an injury. But that hasn’t slowed him down at all. That’s good because he now has an IG brother named Henri to play with! Congratulations to Elmo and his new family! – Mike Forrest

Amor

Amor (L), new family Jude, Kevin Tate & Amy, Mega (Fawn) & Babe (R).

This family of four has adopted from us several times, and currently have two of our hounds (Babe and Mega) plus a third from a different group (Peyton). So, they came in looking for hound #4 to add to their sizable pack. We introduced several pups and they all did great with the other dogs and the kids. But it was the last guy we introduced, a 3 year old who raced in West Virginia, who stole the show. He was great with the other dogs and made sure to spend time introducing himself to each of his new humans. So, it didn’t take long for them to decide to bring home Amor

Max

Max with new Mom & Dad, Deidra & Nick.

A couple made the trip up from the Portland area to find a hound
companion. This is their first dog together and they came in with an open mind looking for the right fit. The kennel is completely full which means there are a lot to choose from! We introduced a number of pups including some recent arrivals from the UK. They quickly narrowed it down to two of our boys and spent some time out in the yard with each of them. And soon after they headed home with Max, a bouncy, happy 3-year-old boy from England! – Mike Forrest

Sophie

Sophie with new mom, Abbey.

This family previously adopted a senior greyhound from us, but he sadly passed away a couple of months ago. So, it was time to find a new companion. The new pup would need to get along with Samson the Goldendoodle who also lives in the home. Samson was used to having a lazy senior greyhound around and proved to not be interested in meeting our bouncier, more energetic pups. But one girl that we introduced was very polite and Samson approved. She also showed off her friendly, affectionate nature which got the human seal of approval as well. So, congratulations to our 4-year-old Australian girl Sophie and her new family! – Mike Forrest

Nova

Nova with new family, Lionel & Gwen, Mom Hannah and Dad Yu

A family of four came in looking for a new greyhound companion. Their previous GPI hound Lady Wallace passed away last year at the age of 12. We have plenty of pups to choose from right now, so the challenge was to find one that would do well with a 6-year-old and a 3-year-old in the house. We introduced several of our Irish and English hounds to see how they’d do, and they all were pretty good with the kids in the adoption center. But when we got outside into the yard one English girl very quickly decided that running and screaming kids were nothing to worry about and were actually kind of fun to follow around. So, it didn’t take long for them to decide that Nova was going to come home with them! – Mike Forrest

Cody

Cody (R) with new Dad Sean & Mom Lani & Greyhound brother, Roman (L).

A couple came in recently with their four year old greyhound Roman who originally came from Australia. They are new to the area and were looking for a companion for Roman who has some separation anxiety. Roman is a pretty calm guy (except for some brief zoomies out in the yard) and got along with all of the hounds that we introduced, so it was up to mom & dad to decide. And it ended up that the first dog they asked to see was the one they brought home – our 4 1/2 year old Irish boy Cody!

Jett

Jett with new Mom Denise & Dad Fernando & Brother Odie (L).

This adoption was to a regular volunteer and previous GPI adopter. They lost their Opal at the age of 12 last year and have been looking for a new friend for their 8-year-old boy Odie. We had a senior girl returned to us recently due to her owner’s health, and they thought there might be a good match there with Odie. And it turns out they were right! Congratulations to Jett and her new family! – Mike Forrest

Vicki

Vicki nka Clover (front – Irish), with new dad Tom and mom Carter, Sister Leia (on couch – Team Inch).

This next adoption was to another family that previously adopted from GPI around 4 years ago. That dog is a Team Inch girl from South Korea named Leia, and the time was right to find her a playmate. She gets along with dogs of all sizes, so it was just a matter of finding a match for her playful nature. We introduced several greyhounds and mixes, and they all got along well, but it was a petite 4-year-old Irish girl named Vicki, nka Clover who charmed her new parents and found her new pack! – Mike Forrest

Patty

Patty with new Dad, Mike.

This recent adoption was to me! (Mike Forrest) I have been fostering Patty for the last few months, and this is my second “foster fail”. Patty came to us from the Kauai Humane Society as a rambunctious 1- year-old and is still as playful as ever after a year at GPI. She keeps my two greyhounds on their toes and makes a great playmate for them. And she’s a very sweet girl and a great cuddler – who could resist?? – Mike Forrest

Max

Max (middle), Carrot (L) & Zigzag with (L to R) Mom & Dad Kristin and Zach with daughters Delilah and Daphne.

These adopters have brought home a number of our dogs over the years and have been on the lookout for a new addition to their pack of two 8-year-olds: Zigzag from Florida (fka Megan) and Carrot from South Korea (fka Phantom). We had introduced a few dogs to them previously and Carrot got along with everybody but Zigzag proved to be a little picky about her new companions. When they saw that we had a 7-year-old Irish boy returned to us due to a family situation, they thought it could be a good fit and got in touch. Zigzag wasn’t quite sure but Max quickly won over the rest of the family with his playful antics and affectionate nature. It took a few days, but Zigzag eventually came around and today they made it official – congratulations to Max and his new pack! – Mike Forrest

Hope

Hope, nka Dove with new brother Maurice with new parents Erin & Tyler.

These adopters lost their senior greyhound last year and were looking for a new companion for their other pup Maurice. He’s an easy going guy but not very confident so we needed to find a good match that wouldn’t overwhelm him. We introduced him to several of our international group of pups, and he seemed fine with all of them. But it was the last one he met – a big, confident, outgoing girl from Ireland – that really clicked with him and his mom & dad. So off they went! Congratulations to Hope, now known as Dove, and her new family! – Mike Forrest

We had a puppy adoption day at GPI! As you may have seen, we were recently asked to help find homes for five whippet puppies. We received dozens of applications and quickly got to work. The puppies, now eight weeks old, arrived and got checkups and microchips. And then the five lucky families at the top of our application list drove in from all over the state to pick out their new pups. Congratulations to Nigel, Princess, Croi, Finn, Jet, and their new families! – Mike Forrest

Timmy, Lale, Rivers, Sally

Timmy and Lale

Lale (L) & Timmy (R) with parents, Toby & Stephanie with Reggie, Sid & Harvey & Husky mix, Loki

A family of five came in with their husky/Samoyed mix Loki looking for a new addition. They previously adopted a greyhound girl named Lady from us in 2019 when the kids were a lot smaller. They were looking for a new companion for Loki, and one who could manage being in a home with three active boys. We had a few candidates to introduce, and they all did really well with the kids and Loki which didn’t really help narrow down the choices. After some time in the yard and a family discussion they decided that instead of picking one of the dogs they’d take TWO: a laid back red 2 1/2 year old from Australia named Timmy, and a bouncy nearly two-year old US girl named Lale! (This is Timmy) – Mike Forrest

Rivers

Rivers with her new Mom Lauren & new Dad, Jackson.

These adopters are an experienced greyhound family, but did not have one currently. They came in to meet a bunch of our dogs, and after some deliberation narrowed things down to a couple of possibilities. One of the two that caught their eye was a girl who for whatever reason decided she was too shy to come over to them for pets, but was still happy enough to show off her playful side out in the yard zooming around them and playing with a ball. Well, despite her initial hesitation she must have made a good impression because they came back today to work with her and our trainer for a while and then brought her home with them! Congratulations to our lurcher girl Rivers and her new family! – Mike Forrest

Sally

Sally with new family, son Max with Joker, Dad Russell & Mom Viola.

This family, including a regular GPI volunteer, has been waiting for a dog who could live with their cats, chickens, and senior Klee Kai, and their patience paid off! We recently received six dogs from Ireland, and this perky little 3 1/2 year old girl passed our cat testing with flying colors. It was a couple of weeks before she was ready to go home and yesterday was the big day – congratulations to Sally and her new pack! – Mike Forrest
