Cossette
This particular dog has been waiting for her new home for quite a while. The main reason is that when she first came to us, she was all puppy and needed a lot of work on her manners. Once again, our trainer, employees and volunteers jumped right in and started working with her. At this time she is a totally different dog!!! To say that she is a beautiful dog, is really an understatement — she is mainly blue with white markings. Recently, a lady contacted me and said she wanted a very active dog and she was used to that kind of behavior because of the dog she just had. I told her this dog was almost exactly like the one she described and she decided she wanted to come meet her. I don’t know that it was love at first sight, but it was pretty obvious that they quickly made a connection and the odds were good that they were going to be best buddies. We are so happy that the lady saw the things we did and are thrilled that Cosette officially has a new mom!!
Misty
A couple from Oregon, who have had numerous Greyhounds, were ready for their next one. They actually fell completely in love with a dog from the website and were hoping they would be able to adopt him. Unfortunately, the couple and the dog were unable to make a connection so we needed to go to plan “b”. They had some ideas about dogs they wanted to meet so we got started. Truly, we didn’t really get past the first candidate. They knew right away that they wanted our beautiful white & brown, Australian girl — Misty.
Tornado
This family has a 2 year old daughter so it was imperative that we find the “right” dog. When they first came to us, their timing was a little more stretched out than we usually encounter, because they have some trips planned. We told them that we had 2 dogs we thought might work for them and that if they were interested, they needed to move quickly. Luckily for them, they took us seriously and now they have our gorgeous, Irish boy, Tornado, nka Finley.
Red
Doing turnout could have a big impact on your dog ownership!! This couple started doing turnout recently and they did exactly what we hope will happen -they fell in love with one of our residents. They bonded quickly and it wasn’t long after the couple left turnout that I got an email wanting to adopt. We got everything pulled together and now our big red Australian hound, Red, is getting settled in his new home!
Gaz
This couple that has also had numerous Greyhounds. They lost their last one a few months ago and have actually wanted to come meet the dogs, but a few things came up and they needed to wait. The time had come for them to find their new family member. There was one criteria that was basically non-negotiable the dog had to be kid-safe. They have 14 grandchildren and one of them comes one day a week for daycare. After some deliberation, they decided on, Gaz, a gentle, sweet Irish boy.
Presh
We have had quite a rash of people who have chosen their dog before they come to the kennel. And these people have actually had a connection with that dog. This couple did just this. They lost their last greyhound last week and they knew that they had to fill that hole pretty quickly because the whole family, including the dogs, was mourning for her. They came in asking for a specific dog and then also added that they were very open to shy dogs. We showed the dogs we had but there really was no point. They had already decided that our sweet, black Irish girl, Presh, was their new family member.
Ricky
This man saw the dog’s picture on Petfinder. The dog seemed to be just what he wanted. Even though he came in to see a particular dog, he wisely decided to meet some others while he was there. He enjoyed meeting the other dogs, but it came down to the special connection he had with Ricky, our black & white boy from Ireland.
