Sailor
Sometimes our dogs have to wait for a really long time to meet their new parents and we do the best we can to keep them happy while they do (and, if I may say so, we do a pretty darn good job of it!!!). The guy that was adopted today was one of those guys. This sweet boy is one of the dogs we were able to help from Macau’s Canidrome. His new mom is from Portland and she has had her eye on him for quite a while — she kept sending me notes before she came to make sure he was still available. They finally got to meet last Saturday but they couldn’t go home together because of a commitment the mom had to fulfill. So, they had to wait one more week to make things official. I told the new mother that it was awfully hard to leave a dog at the kennel once you have made a decision and she confirmed that this had been the longest week in her life EVER!!! Never fear, today, they were reunited and Sailor, nka Jhin, headed off to Portland with his new mom.
Pong
Chalk up another Greyhound for Canada!! A family with three children (aged 4, 9 & 11) were looking for a Greyhound to add to their household. They needed a cat friendly dog that also did well with children and you KNOW that is not easy to find! But, we did!! Some dogs were too shy and some too bold, but they found a very special boy who was the biggest dog we got on the load that came in two weeks ago and, at the age of 15 months, he was also the youngest dog on that load. He seemed to be unfazed by everything he encountered … so, Pong (who is the first dog adopted out of that last load) headed off to Canada with his new family!!!
