Benny, Phantom, Tank, Copper

October 21, 2023

Join us here as our Adoption Representatives share stories from the Adoption Center. Check out our Available Dogs to see who’s still waiting for their forever home.

Benny

Benny with his new parents, Michaela & Elias with their little dog, Yogi.

A couple came in looking for a new friend for their Jack Russell/Beagle mix named Yogi. We really don’t have many dogs right now that get along with smaller dogs, but there was one boy that we thought we could try out. It wasn’t looking good at first as Yogi didn’t seem thrilled to have a much larger dog around. But with some persistence, training, and a whole lot of treats they’re doing great together now! So Yogi & family have a new packmate – our boy Benny from Ireland! – Mike Forrest

Phantom

Phantom nka Carrot (middle) with mom & dad, Kristin & Zack, ZigZag (L) & Dante (R).

Sometimes a home is not complete with only three greyhounds. This family has over the years adopted several of our greyhounds already, and came back recently for another one. This is also another example of a volunteer finding their dog during kennel turnout! This boy had a pretty rough start to life before he was rescued by Team Inch in South Korea and sent over to us last year. Now he gets to pal around with his new mom & dad, two teenage girls, and three other greyhounds. I’d say that Phantom, now known as Carrot, has hit the jackpot! – Mike Forrest

Tank

Tank with new dad & mom, Vadim & Samantha.

A couple came in recently having lost their previous greyhound Atlas last year. They have been doing turnout recently and met a few dogs that they felt might be a good fit for them. So today they came to our open house to get some one-on-one time with a couple of dogs on their list. They made a great connection with one of them, so Australian boy Tank is headed off to new adventures with his new family!

Copper

Copper with Mom Karin and son David.

A woman and her son came in looking for a new companion and walking buddy. They previously had a lurcher, but he passed away in February. We introduced them to several of our greyhounds and mixes who showed their wide range of personalities, but one girl made it clear from the start that she wanted to be their top choice today. So I can’t say we were surprised when they decided to bring home Copper!

Turnip: October Dog of the Month

September 30, 2023

Please contact Moira Corrigan ([email protected]) for more information about Turnip.

Turnip
Tag No: 6988
Registered Name: None
Breed: Greyhound
Date of Birth:  Dec 6, 2019
Color: Fawn
Cat Trainable: No
Dog Friendly: See Comments
Kid Friendly: See Comments
Location: Woodinville, WA (Kennel)
Comments:  Turnip is outgoing, confident, friendly and happy.   He likes affection and is sweet and friendly with people. Turnip is high energy, confident and very strong.  Due to his high prey drive and strength, we do not recommend Turnip with younger children.  He would also do best in a home with a fenced yard with an active family and a 6 foot fence.  He is very confident, so will likely need to be an only dog.  Turnip will need a home without cats or small dogs for sure.  Turnip came to us from Australia.

Sponsored by Shabari Girish Ganapathy, in memory of Leo

Turnip would like to have a sponsor until he gets adopted.  Interested?  If so, see: https://www.greyhoundpetsinc.org/support/sponsor-a-dog/

Liba, Billy, Olive, Blossom, Diego

September 10, 2023

Join us here as our Adoption Representatives share stories from the Adoption Center. Check out our Available Dogs to see who’s still waiting for their forever home.

Liba

Liba, nka Poppi, (Right) with her new family, Dad Bill & Brother Jake, with Skubi fka Scooby (Left) and Svengamin fka Sven (Middle)

These adopters have been on the lookout for a smaller dog for quite some time. They’ve had retired racer Skubi (fka Scooby) for several years, and then adopted Sven (now Svengamin Buttons) from us back in January. When they saw that a small senior girl had come into our care they knew they had to meet her. It didn’t take very long for her to fit right into the pack with Skubi, Sven, and the rest of the family. So now it’s official and little Liba has a new home! – Mike Forrest

Billy

Billy with his new family, Andrey, Anastasia & Sasha.

These adopters are a family with a 10 year old daughter who has wanted a dog for a couple of years, and who has even been saving up her allowance to pay the adoption fee! This is their first family dog, and they got to meet a bunch of greyhounds and mixes on a walk at Brightwater. The dog that seemed like a natural fit for them is a sweet, fun boy who came to us via Team Inch from South Korea – it’s Billy! – Mike Forrest

Olive

Olive with her new family, Melissa, Marcus & Dameon.

Our next family recently lost their coonhound and came in looking for a smaller family dog. They have two teenagers so they should have no problem keeping an active, younger dog entertained. They got to meet a couple of our smaller pups, but quickly narrowed it down to one playful girl who also came to us from South Korea via Team Inch: Olive! – Mike Forrest

Blossom

Blossom (Right) with new mom & dad, Mark & Julia with Reggie fka Ryo (Left) & Coop.

These recent adopters came in with their greyhound Reggie (fka Ryo) and Australian cattle dog Coop looking for a new member of their pack. They have had several greyhounds before so they had a good idea of what they were looking for, and just needed to make sure that they got along with Coop & Reggie. We introduced them to a few of our girls, and quickly found one who seemed to have the right energy level to keep up with Coop. After some introductions & play time outside we all came back in and she and Reggie both laid down on the rug while we were doing paperwork, with Coop keeping an eye on things. I think our Irish girl Blossom will have a great time with her new family! – Mike Forrest

Diego

Diego nka Loki with new mom, Anne (Right), new dad, Lloyd with Rock (Left) & Lilly on dog bed.

These next adopters are two of our long-time volunteers. They have had a pack of three greyhounds for a while, but sadly lost one of them earlier this year. They have been waiting and keeping an eye out for the right hound to come along, and sure enough he did! And from what I’ve heard, Irish brindle boy Diego, now known as Loki, is fitting right in with his new pack mates, Lily and Rock!

Plato: September Dog of the Month

September 1, 2023

Please contact Moira Corrigan ([email protected]) for more information about Plato.
Plato
Tag No: 6796
Registered Name: None
Breed: Greyhound
Date of Birth:  August 2019
Color: Dark Brindle
Cat Trainable: No
Dog Friendly: See Comments
Kid Friendly: No
Weight:  65
Location: Woodinville, WA (Kennel)
Comments:  Plato is a friendly, playful guy.  He loves to play ball and loves car rides.  And he loves those neck scritches.  He can be unsure of anything new, so needs a calm, confident adopter.  He may need to be an only dog in his home as he injured the female greyhound in his previous home.  Plato is doing well with our trainers and has been very well behaved with our volunteers.  We do not recommend him with children.  Plato would do best in a home with a fenced yard, without cats or other dogs. If you would like to help support Plato while he waits for his forever home, you might want to consider sponsoring him.  More info here:  https://greyhoundpetsinc.org/support/sponsor-a-dog/

Jet, Storm

August 16, 2023

Join us here as our Adoption Representatives share stories from the Adoption Center. Check out our Available Dogs to see who’s still waiting for their forever home.

Jet

Jet with new mom, Brenda.

This adoption was to a woman in the Vancouver BC area whose senior greyhound passed away recently. She also has three smaller dogs that like having a greyhound companion, so it was important that we find a hound that could quickly become part of the pack. It took some trying, but we eventually managed to find one boy who did great with smaller dogs and who we think will fit right in with his new siblings: our Irish boy Jet! – Mike Forrest

Storm

Storm with his new dad, Eric.

This recent adoption was by a long-time volunteer who frequently takes our dogs out on walks at Brightwater. This is a great way to meet a bunch of different dogs and get to know them, and in this case he met one he wanted to bring home with him – our happy Irish boy Storm! – Mike Forrest
