Black Greyhounds are every bit as loving and wonderful as any other color greyhound. Many parts of the country have a hard time placing black greyhounds, but here in the Pacific Northwest we know better and welcome them into our homes. On September 11th GPI took in a load of all black greyhounds from Florida, many of whom had been waiting for years for the opportunity for a loving forever home. Greyhound Pets, Inc. currently has 23 wonderful black greyhounds for adoption and we’re featuring every one of them as our October Dogs of the Month!!! Help us find these wonderful dogs their forever homes.

	Anubis Tag No: 4696 Registered Name: Heavy Ton Age: 7 Color: Black Cat Friendly: No Dog Friendly: Ok with greyhounds and other large dogs, no small dogs Kid Friendly: Unknown Location: Carnation, WA (Foster) Comments: Anubis (aka Tony) is a big, strong boy. He has been in a home before. He knows how to use the dog door and is very good around the house. He LOVES to go for car rides and loves his walks. He is pretty good on leash, but has to be reminded of his leash manners when he sees something interesting. This is a boy that needs exercise. He can be a couch potato, but only after he has some exercise. Balls are an absolute favorite of his and he LOVES to play ball. Anubis/Tony needs a home without kitties or small dogs. He has done well in his foster home with the other dogs (greyhounds and non-greyhounds all large), although he has to be reminded to 'calm' every now and then as he can spin up easily. He can be a bit of a talker when he wants something or wants to tell you something. He and his foster mom have quite the conversations he is just a hoot! Anubis/Tony needs a home with a yard to play in and someone who wants to walk him. We do not recommend him for an apartment/condo. He's quite playful, loving and an absolute cutie! We do not recommend him for the first time dog owner. He respects authority and knows several commands and is always eager to please you. He also needs a home with a canine companion.
	Fame Tag No: 5266 Registered Name: Starz Fame Age: 5.5 Color: Black Cat Friendly: No Dog Friendly: Ok with greyhounds, unknown with others Kid Friendly: Yes (5+ years old) Location: Woodinville, WA Comments: Fame has the most darling face! He is very friendly and just a love. The kennel he came from told us that he was good with children. Fame needs a home without cats.
	Happy Boy Tag No: 5271 Registered Name: Kiowa Happy Boy Age: 3.5 Color: Black Cat Friendly: No Dog Friendly: Ok with greyhounds, unknown with others Kid Friendly: Unknown Location: Woodinville, WA Comments: Happy Boy is just like his name; very friendly and happy. That tail always seems to be wagging. He is fairly calm for his age and even tempered. What a sweetie. Happy Boy needs a home without cats.

He is very happy and friendly and just loves being around people and is a leaner. He enjoys attention without being pushy about it. He adores being loved on and is affectionate. He is fairly mellow and a real sweetheart! Kurt is a strong boy. He gets along well with his turnout buddies. Kurt needs a home without cats.

	Linkz Tag No: 5077 Registered Name: Quik Linkz Age: 5 Color: Black Cat Friendly: No Dog Friendly: Ok with greyhounds, not so with small dogs Kid Friendly: Unknown Location: Woodinville, WA Comments: We just can't figure out why Linkz has not been adopted yet - he is such a greyt boy. Linkz is an absolute character. He has the cutest tail that goes in all directions can't seem to make up its mind whether it wants to go round and round or up and down. We've given Linkz a raised bed at the kennel and he absolutely loves it. He loves to check out new things and has the funniest, bouncy, happy run. Some of our volunteers have been working with him and his leash manners are quite good now. Linkz will need an active home and he would not make a good apartment dog. This boy loves life and will make you smile as well. Linkz has definitely matured and with a little exercise he soon mellows out and is happy to hang withyou. Linkz needs a home without kitties or small dogs. Gotta love those ears!!! Linkz loves the kiddie pool and just loves to run in and out of it and keep cool on those hot days. BB is slowly learning that the big, bad world isn't so bad and has done well on outings with some of our volunteers. Once she knows you well she will slowly come up to you for some loving. She loves the kiddie pool. BB loves to run and play with her sisters or other dogs she is turned out with. BB is just too darling for words and is slowly gaining confidence. BB learns quickly. Once Jane knows you she will sneak up for some loving. Some of our volunteers are starting to take Jane out into the world and she has done well so far. Jane is just precious and is slowly gaining confidence. Jane learns quickly. She did well in a second round of cat testing, but has not lived in a home with a cat. She warms up quickly to people. She is happy, friendly and just wants to be with you. Pearl is affectionate and loves to cuddle and be petted. Foster home update: Pearl is a very sweet, calm and loving little girl. Eager to learn. Pearl has been to one booth and did very well with meeting children and little dogs. She learned to do stairs all by herself and is house trained. She is good company in the kitchen, lays down and watches. She loves car rides. Pearl is great on walks with loose leash. Pearl is a petite young lady and she will just warm your heart. Pearl needs a home without cats and children.

She would benefit from being in a home with another more outgoing dog. We do not recommend Rhea for an apartment/condo. Foster home update: Rhea has settled beautifully into her foster home without any problems whatsoever. She has mastered all the stairs in her home, walks loose leash on walks and will potty onleash. Rhea is not afraid to try new things. She would do best with another greyhound companion. She is loving, playful and eager to please. Rhea is cat and little dog friendly. She is an easy eater... however she likes a quiet spot in which to eat her meals. Rhea is just a sweetheart. And you have to love that face!!!

She does well at turnout with the other dogs. She can be a bit standoffish to start out with, but quickly warms up and is a doll. Rowanne needs a home without cats.

She is on the quiet side, but very friendly and just a love. She has a very even personality and the kennel she came from tells us that she is good with children (5+ years old). She learns quickly and she's curious even when she's nervous about the situation she's in. When she's comfortable, she's playful and once she knows you she has figured out that she likes this petting thing. Sophie is doing well on her outings with one of our volunteers. She walks well on a leash and rides well in the car. She did well in a second round of cat testing, but has not lived in a home with a cat. We do not recommend Sophie for a home with children. She likes attention, but isn't pushy about it. She loves massages. Tiffy likes to initially tell her turnout buddies off, but after a bark or two she is fine with them and does well with the other greys. Tiffy needs a home without cats. FOSTER HOME UPDATE: Tiffy is a gentle, mellow and SWEET girl. She does well with the two other greyhounds and an Australian Shepherd in her foster home. She quickly learned the stairs by following the other two greyhounds. She is so smart that she potty trained herself! Not once has she made a mess in the house. She does extremely well on leash. At booths she has sniffed small dogs, but has done just fine with them. She is not a gregarious dog, but she definitely enjoys being petted if someone will approach her. Riding in the car is not a problem at all; she settles in very quickly. She definitely enjoys her treats. Just a wonderful lady!
